There’s no better time to enjoy fresh produce than during the fall harvest season. There is a great selection of the best Kentucky farms where you can pick apples, pumpkins, and more to take home.
Pick-your-own farms are an especially fun activity for kids, because they can learn where their favorite fruits and vegetables come from, learn how to tell when produce is ripe, and enjoy active time outdoors.
Here are the best Kentucky farms for fall activities during this harvest season!
Bi-Water Farm – Georgetown, KY
The number of things to do at Bi-Water farm in the fall is seemingly endless, so I had to put them on the list of the best Kentucky farms. Hayrides, Spooky Farm House, playground, paintball target shooting, miniature golf, corn maze, petting zoo, and so much more. They have themed special events on the weekends in September and October. Evans Orchard and Cider Mill – Georgetown, KY
Evans Orchard is a large family-owned farm in Georgetown, KY with TONS to do. Pear and apple picking season both begin on the second weekend in September, and they have 14 apple varieties to choose from. They also have a large children’s play area, cafe, and market. Eckert’s Orchard – Versailles, KY
Eckert’s Orchard will be offering pick-your-own apples starting from September 4, 2020, and they have over 30 varieties! Their country store offers many options for local produce and they have a great selection of kids’ activities, including a playground, petting farm, pig racing, and pumpkin picking. Reed Valley Orchard – Paris, KY
Reed Valley Orchard is a serene little location outside of Paris, KY. Unfortunately, due to some poor weather conditions this past winter, their apple harvest is pretty limited for 2020. They plan to reopen on September 25 for butternut and butterkin squash, cushaw, gourds, and pumpkins. When you visit, be sure to check out the nature trail and their country store. Hinton’s Orchard and Farm Market – Hodgenville, KY
Hinton’s has a huge variety of produce, fresh-baked goods, meats, milk, and eggs. For fall fun, they boast hayrides, corn mazes, and pick-your-own pumpkins. Lots of kid-friendly stuff to check out! Reid’s Orchard – Owensboro, KY
The history of Reid’s Orchard dates back to 1873 with Scottish immigrant Allan Reid. This orchard has a wide variety of produce available in addition to its wonderful apples. They aren’t actually going to be able to offer pick-your-own this year, but they still have a wonderful variety of fruits and veggies in their store. Jackson’s Orchard – Bowling Green, KY
Jackson’s Orchard has u-pick apples available in 2020 from many different varieties. Enjoy a hayride, corn maze, and pumpkin patch in the fall. They also have a cool children’s play area and concession stand to make your trip more fun for the family. Call ahead for the most up-to-date apple picking information. Haney’s Appledale Farm – Nancy, KY
This 450-acre farm in South Central Kentucky grows over 25 varieties of apples, 10 varieties of peaches, pears, and nectarines. The business also has a roadside market and a pie shop with to-die-for fried apple pies. They also have pumpkins and gourds perfect for fall. Mulberry Orchard – Shelbyville, KY
This family farm between Lexington and Louisville has it all. Fresh, local produce, honey, eggs, meats, apple cider, and more. In the fall they have hayrides, corn mazes, playground, and pumpkin patches to entertain kiddos. Visit the Mulberry Orchard website.
Cates Farm – Henderson, KY
Produce, pumpkins, and more! Cates Farm has an eleven-acre corn maze, twelve acres of pumpkins, hayrides, bonfires, and games. You can also get their fresh produce at the Henderson Farmers Market.
